CASENITY.com – The upcoming anime My Girlfriend’s Friend is preparing to enter the Fall 2026 anime season with a confirmed Japanese premiere on October 4, 2026. The adaptation has also revealed additional voice actors, a new promotional trailer, and its opening and ending songs, giving viewers a clearer look at the series before its broadcast.

Based on Jyura’s manga Kanojo no Tomodachi, the story follows Takeru Hidaka, a high school student whose relationship becomes complicated when he finds himself drawn into an uncomfortable situation involving his girlfriend's friend, Tomoko Yoshioka. The premise centers on temptation, relationships, and the emotional tension created between the characters.

The production has now expanded its cast with two newly announced performers. Riho Sugiyama will portray Miyuki, while Ryoka Yuzuki takes the role of Kaori's mother. They join the previously announced leads, including Ryuga Nagaike as Takeru, Sayaka Hashi as Kaori Koga, and Miki Hase as Tomoko Yoshioka.

The anime is being directed by Takashi Ando, with Goko Shiraki responsible for series composition and Ryuji Iwata handling character designs. Animation production is being carried out by Quad, with the project released under WWWave Corporation's Deregula label.

Music will also play an important role in establishing the show's atmosphere. Japanese three-member unit Airots performs the opening theme, titled “Gingira,” while singer-songwriter Ceui provides the ending song “False Love.” Both tracks are featured as part of the anime's promotional rollout ahead of its premiere.

The newest promotional material gives fans another glimpse at the characters and the complicated relationships driving the narrative. Rather than presenting a conventional school romance, My Girlfriend’s Friend appears to lean into emotional conflict and mature relationship drama.

The original manga has been serialized on Kodansha's YanMaga Web platform since May 2021. Seven collected volumes had been published in Japan by July 2026, providing the anime with an established storyline to adapt.

For viewers interested in checking out the adaptation, the television version will begin its Japanese run in October, while a separate Complete Deregula version will be offered through AnimeFesta. The latter is the uncensored edition, while the broadcast version is censored for television.

With its October premiere, expanded cast, fresh promotional footage, and newly announced theme songs, My Girlfriend’s Friend is shaping up as one of the more mature relationship-focused titles arriving during the Fall 2026 anime lineup.
